Privacy policy
This policy explains what information is processed when you use the DBC Utility desktop app, website, checkout, license management, protected downloads, and support channels.

DBC viewing, editing, comparison, multiplexing review, and layout analysis run locally in the desktop app. DBC files, CAN logs, signal definitions, compare results, and edited DBC content are not uploaded, stored, or sent to DBC Utility servers by those offline workflows. Internet connectivity is needed for checkout, protected downloads, license activation, license validation, license recovery, updates, analytics on the website, and support communication.
The website and licensing service may process contact details you provide, purchase email addresses, license status lookup requests, support messages, checkout and payment metadata, protected download requests, device activation metadata, update eligibility records, and basic technical data such as IP address, browser, pages visited, referrer, and timestamps. If you voluntarily send DBC files, logs, screenshots, or other attachments for support, those materials may be processed only for that support request.
Payments and license-key delivery are handled through Dodo Payments. DBC Utility does not intentionally store full card numbers. The licensing service may store payment identifiers, product entitlement status, purchase email, hashed or derived license records, activation counts, update eligibility dates, and audit metadata needed to provide license access and support. License keys remain lifetime accessible while the related license entitlement is valid and has not been refunded, reversed, revoked, or disabled for abuse.
The site uses Google Analytics and Telltide for analytics, attribution, and customer interaction. Cookies or similar storage may be used for analytics, attribution, checkout return handling, purchase proof, security, and license download access.
Information is used to operate the website, process checkout returns, provide license activation and protected downloads, check one-year update eligibility, keep license keys accessible, answer support requests, prevent abuse, troubleshoot billing or license issues, improve product pages, and meet legal or security obligations.
Where GDPR or UK GDPR applies, DBC Utility relies on legal bases that may include contract performance for checkout, license delivery, activation, update eligibility, and support; legitimate interests for security, fraud prevention, service diagnostics, and product improvement; consent where required for optional analytics or communications; and legal obligations for tax, accounting, dispute, and compliance records.
DBC Utility may use service providers including Cloudflare for hosting, security, functions, and storage, Dodo Payments for checkout and license delivery, Google Analytics for analytics, Telltide for attribution and customer interaction, email providers for support, and similar infrastructure providers needed to run the service.
Purchase, license, audit, update eligibility, and support records may be kept for as long as needed to keep license keys lifetime accessible, provide license validation, handle refunds or disputes, secure protected downloads, comply with legal obligations, and maintain business records. Analytics and security logs may be kept according to the settings of the relevant service provider.
Depending on your location and the applicable law, you may have rights to be informed, access your personal data, correct inaccurate data, request deletion, restrict or object to processing, receive portable data, withdraw consent where processing is based on consent, and complain to a data protection authority. Some rights may be limited where records are required for license access, fraud prevention, accounting, dispute handling, security, or legal compliance.
DBC Utility and its service providers may process information in countries other than your own. Where required, appropriate transfer safeguards are used for cross-border processing.
DBC Utility uses reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect license and website data, but no internet service can guarantee absolute security.
This Privacy Policy may be updated as the website, checkout, analytics, or licensing systems change. The updated version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
